Week of Ham - 5/26/15

So this week was official week of ham week and it turned out pretty darn good.  But it has been crazy with ups and downs.

Ups: So as far as temporal ups we caught an Alligator Gar, a catfish and a turtle. We also got $50 memory foam pillows for $10 cause of a memorial day sale. And we got to go to the World Jambalaya festival.

Downs: One of our investigators is having a breakdown because of some issues with her fiance' and so that's probably the biggest down. Also I got sick with the flu on Sunday.

Investigators: We got a ton of new potential investigators we need to check up on now. We finally got in touch with Christie last night and she has just been crazy busy. But all is well. Rachel and Parish are doing awesome and they both should be coming to church together this Sunday.

The week of ham challenge: So the challenge was to have the zone average contacting 21 people this week about the gospel apart from tracting per companionship. So a total of 399 contacts as a zone. And we definitely got it. We got exactly 399 contacts as a zone. So now President Hanson will provide our zone Ice Cream at ZTM.

This week has been a crazy adventure. We also definitely contacted a man named Grasshopper and an awesome old black man chillin in his suburban jamming to his harmonica. So we went and jammed with him and taught him the restoration.

TSwift: Tell me why Taylor Swift was not at LSU on Friday and we may or may not have seen her limo. Dang we also stood outside the stadium and listened to a little bit of the concert. Just a little bit though.

I love yall. Also I’m feeling tons better now. I’m done with the flu.

Love

waitn on the police - 5/18/15

This has been a weird week.

Exchange: I went with Elder Peterson in East Spanish and their place is super ghetto. Literally gun shots and drug deals and lots of theft. Neighbors have broken into their car 3 times in the past 3 months and stolen their scripture bag. While I was there we took our lunch break and were about to go out and teach and it was about 2pm when we hear our car alarm go off and then we look and see this car zoom off. And we see a hand print on the window. So instead of teaching we had to wait for cops to come and get all the reports taken care of. Satan is really trying to slow down the work. I mean who tries to break into a car in a apartment complex at 2pm! broad daylight! It was pretty weird.

R: She is such a solid investigator. She is kinda struggling though. Her fiancé is still drinking and smoking and he hangs out with bad friends. Anywho she broke up with him and moved out with her parents. And right after she does that someone breaks in and destroys a ton of her stuff and steals all the new furniture she just purchased. So she is dealing with the police as well.

Parish and Rachel: They are doing pretty good. Rachel is now requesting to have all Sundays off which will be awesome. I really see them getting baptized.

Going hard in the paint: So this week now starting today is our zones week of going super hard in the paint. Get ready for a fun week. :)

Love yall

Dang - 5/11/15

Looks like crawfish is on the menu!

Dang this week has been good and just super busy and hectic with MLC, ZTM, car breaking down, mother's day, it's been fun.

ZTM (Zone Training Meeting): So we talked a lot about being a preach my gospel missionary and also keeping commitments. Also we challenged each companionship in the zone to contact at least 21 new people next week. It's pretty easy, people just gotta get out of their comfort zone. And if we do, president will provide banana splits for us! It will be great.

Cars....: So our car's battery is bad so often the car won't start. And the McComb sisters' car will randomly shut off while they are driving. And that happened to them while they were going 70 on the freeway. So now our car is in the shop and we are driving their death machine. Basically we are running off of miracle juice.

Plaquemine: I went on exchange and it was fun. Plaquemine is super ghetto. You know you are in the ghetto when people's car is worth twice as much as their home. Seriously these people are driving nice corvettes and stuff while they live in a shack. It was also pretty funny. This little African American girl came up to me and was like "I had a chocolate milk mustache once. You couldn't really see it." I was laughing so hard at that. We had a great time.

Skype: I loved calling home. It was great. I got to do it at the mission home and after the Hansens made us dinner and we just got to spend some good time with them. They are so funny. I love them.

Well love you all

Side Note from Mom: Elder Lehr told us that he and another elder took a challenge to "not" say the word "dang" for 30 minutes.  Apparently they couldn't do it.  Thus his title for this email.

We loved speaking with him on Mother's Day.  This was his last phone call home before he finishes the mission.  See you in 5 months, Elder Lehr!

Havin' a good time - 5/4/15

This past week has been great and really fun. We went to the trampoline park and had a BLAST and we will be going again today.

Investigators: We found a sweet lady who is a young single adult so we referred her to the sisters. She committed to baptism though on our first visit! pretty awesome. We saw Kristi and she now works 7 days a week so it's really hard to get a hold of her. But we had a good visit last night. We saw Parish and Rachel and that was so good. Parish came to church and Rachel didn't because she had work. But we will see them later this week.

Finding: We decided to go through all the pi's in the area book and just text them asking if we can come over and we got some really funny replies. Some of which were really crude so I will not share them now. But we did have a few people say we can come over which is awesome.

Crawfish Boil: Our ward had a crawfish boil on Saturday and that was soooo good. They just get live crawfish and boil them in some super seasoned water and then we peel them and suck the heads. It is so good. Great event.

Zone: We absorbed most of Lafeyette zone so now we have the biggest zone in the mission. It's pretty fun. We have a ton of hoots in our zone and also hard workers so it's gonna be fun.

That's about it so far. Love yall
