News and Duck Dynasty - 6/22/15

This has been such an eventful week. Literally it's been nuts.

Exchanges: So we went on exchanges in Lafayette to do baptism interviews as well and that was real fun. Also there is a place there called Stephens Chicken and it is super ghetto but super good. And lets just say that recently my stomach hasn't been feeling very good and so Elder Richardson told me to take a laxative to clear my system out. And I did. And I'm just saying that combining Stephens ghetto chicken with a laxative will absolutely destroy you. Don't try it. Then there have been some companionships in the zone that are really struggling so we had to go on exchanges with them.

African American Museum: We volunteered for that event and it was super cool. We contacted tons of people there and the local Fox News interviewed Elder Richardson and I.

Duck Dynasty: So there was a Father's Day event at the Bethany church and we got invited to that and that was Saturday. And guess what Phil Robertson and Alan Robertson from Duck Dynasty were there and we got to hear them preach. It was actually really good. But yeah I got to meet Phil Robertson. Crazy!

Investigator: One of our investigators committed to baptism on July 23. She was gonna come to church yesterday but then she was at the hospital due to dehydration. So that was lame

Parish: We saw him with our ward mission leader yesterday and Bro Tucker did a great job of letting him know why he needs to come to church. So we will be expecting Parish from here on out. Also we got Rachel's info and she still wants to have missionaries coming over so we are sending the North sisters over there.

Dang I'll send pictures next week. My camera isn't on me and I am also super dang tired.

Turtle Slayers - 6/15/15

Dang another week full of adventures.

Turtles: Elder Richardson and I caught a turtle that was absolutely huge it was a mammoth of a turtle. Literally It was like a foot and a half long. It was HUGE so we are making turtle gumbo again yum!

Crazy Referral: So while contacting we ask this woman for a referral and she says "yup right over there lives the devil himself yall should go visit him." So we did and it was literally crazy. He has a bandana and a Go-tee and literally looked like he was gonna kill someone. And he is like "Elder Lehr now that is a cool name." And then goes on prophesying to me for 45 minutes straight without breaking eye contact about how I have a face that needs to be on TV and how I need to be a supreme court judge and how I have great influence over women. It was hilarious. He said some more comments that were hilarious but very inappropriate so I won't share that with yall.

Investigators: Well we finally got a hold of one of our investigators again and she is doing pretty good. We are going to go see someone in jail this week. It was pretty funny our investigator is like "Aren't yall scared to go visit jail? Those are some crazy people." And I'm all like "We're in the Ghetto this is way more dangerous then jail! These people are loose." So she is doing pretty good. Sayda couldn't come to church and neither did Parish.

Well that's been most of what's happened this week. I love yall so much

Feels like Africa - 6/9/15

Dang this has been another super crazy and busy week. From MLC to ZTM and an exchange to Lafayette and transfers. Dang it's been real fun.
So transfers: Elder Richardson and I are staying another so I am super pumped about that. And the new office Elder is Elder Allen! So I will get to see him all the time! I am soo pumped.
Finding: We followed up with quite a few of the people we contacted but it is so hard to get a hold of them again. So we decided to go tracting in a rich baller neighborhood and find some and have some fun. For the most part it's like Rich ballers are mean and the poor people will listen but won't keep any commitments. So anyway while we were tracting we found this woman who was super cool and super interested. Anyway the next day we try to get a return appointment and she says that her family is not ready for our religion yet. So that's really sad. She really wanted to know if there was a heaven and she really had so much potential but it seems like her background is holding her back for now.
Parish: He was gonna come to church and then he got the Flu.... gosh darn satan.. I'll get him.
More Tracting: We decided to tract another Rich balla neighborhood and just from tracting half a street we got 2 return appointments. Life is still good.
Sayda: She is absolutely golden. She is so cool and is gonna go to the singles ward this week so we are handing her off to the sisters since she is way too single.
We finally got in touch with Corrella again and we found her address. When we taught her she literally brought like 10 people over...like 5 children and 5 adults. And she is gonna bring more. That is what really feels like Africa again. It is so cool she is awesome.

This next transfer is gonna be such a blast I am so ready to be finishing strong.

Work hard play hard - 6/1/15

Lightsaber "swag"

This week has been so much fun and we definitely worked. This week we set a goal to contact at least 100 people outside of tracting as a companionship. And we got it! We also have been doing a ton of follow up recently. Basically we have so many people that we can see there is no excuse for us not having something to do.

Parish & Rachel: So they are doing well. They weren't able to come to church but we have an appointment with them tomorrow so we will follow up with that. But they have been reading the Book of Mormon which is awesome.

Christy: We were finally able to get in contact with her again. She is just working so much it's hard to get a hold of her. We found out she is moving to North Baton Rouge so we will hand her off to the missionaries there.

Syda: Last week we contacted this woman named Syda and she is super cool. She is working at the hospital here and is Columbian and is a sweet woman. We taught her the restoration and it was so awesome how it clicked for her and she already doesn't smoke or drink. So dang she is just golden. She looks a lot like Julia Riley. So that is awesome. I look forward to see what happens next.

Mudding: At coordination meeting the sisters parked in the mud so after they left Elder Richardson got the great idea to go mudding. We played around in it a little bit in the car and then Elder Richardson sees a super muddy spot.(FYI it had just finished raining like Noah's ark earlier that day) and I warn him that he will get stuck. So he goes in anyway and gets stuck. Then a cop drives by and tries to help us out. So I get out and try to push the car and the cop helps as well. And after getting sprayed with mud and almost face planting into the mud the car gets out. And we contact the cop :) So moral of the story is mudding is an effective finding idea.

Well that has basically been the highlights of this week.
