Dunkalitious - 1/26/15

Elder Lehr, Trent, Elder Sabey

Elder Lehr, Trent (love that smile), Elder Sabey

Joseph and Elder Lehr

Crazy sign on a trailer home they came across

This week was really good Trent got Baptized! I'll talk about that first.

Trent's Baptism: It went super well. He is so ready. Sean Johnson came to give the opening prayer which was really cool. And Trent's dad, Dicky, came and also his best friend. They all enjoyed it. Since Trent is a pretty big fellow Elder Sabey did the baptism but I got in the water to help get him up. Then on Sunday I did the confirmation. It was super neat.

Investigators: So getting a hold of investigators and less actives has been pretty hard this week. But we were able to contact Marty again and he is interested just has tons of health problem. Pretty much everyone else we just can't get a hold of.

Lee's: So Mary and Larry Lee taught us how to make red beans and rice and other southern goods. I am so excited to try those recipes.

Honestly not much else happened this week. Transfers are next week so I receive transfer news on Monday and then p-day will be Tuesday.

Love you all

Kinda really busy week? - 1/21/15

Elder Teh's mission tour - Alexandria Zone 1/2015

"Our Canadian Wall"

"Tic Tac Toe in the Sky"

So this last week we had some awesome miracles but we were kinda struggling to try to find people to teach this last week. But so far this week it's been really good.
So I'll start with the really good news

Really good news: We saw Trent last Thursday and he said "I got some good news. I know the Book of Mormon is TRUE. And I want to be baptized this next Saturday." So that's pretty much the best news ever. He is completely ready. Also we saw the Box Family who are less active. And we invited them to church and they came! The whole family! So that was super cool.

Investigators: Joseph didn't come to church but he said he would this next Sunday. Some of our other investigators make excuses and don't come to church. Dakota is reading and doing pretty well. That's basically how our investigators are doing right now. Trent is doing awesome though.

P-Day: On Monday we went to Natchitoches and played football, frisbee, and went bowling. It was so much fun. I love our district. I was struggling a bit during the bowling but it was still really fun.

Crazy Scare: So P-day night we were spending the night with the Natchitoches Elders playing LSUopoly when we hear this screech and then a kaboom! And it was literally like 2 feet away from our window. I don't know exactly what happened but it seemed like somebody shot a rocket or something at us. And it didn't look like a firework. It was pretty scary but fun.

Well love you all

P.S. All is good in Many. I have actually lost 5 pounds so I'm back down to 160. I think it's just because I'm not as hungry anymore. I can't eat as much as I used to. But that's ok.

Crazy good week - 1/14/15

Wow this week has been sooo hectic but awesome. We had zone training meeting and afterwards we had exchange with Elder Mellor. And then it just went crazy from there.

Sunday: Elder Sabey and I gave talks and it went pretty well. We were hoping for 6 investigators to come to church but pretty much all of them bailed on us. Even Sean didn't come to church this Sunday. But we did have 1. Joseph came! You know crazy Italian Joseph! I was so pumped and just happy. That made my day. Then we just tried everybody we could see. We were only in the apartment for like 5 minutes to quickly pack to go spend the night in Natchitoches to drive to Baton Rouge. So we were busy and we got 10 lessons in one day! That's like a new record even compared to my Africa record. We were pretty happy. And they were all super solid. I definitely felt the spirit that day.

Travel: Basically our district and especially our Elders have become super tight. I think I’ll try to go to Elder Sabey's homecoming when he is done. It was long but fun. We spent the night with the AP's.
We also went and saw the original Cane's restaurant at LSU.

Elder Teh (First Quorum of the Seventy): So it was super good. We had a leadership meeting and he talked about how he has noticed that people seem to take on the personalities of the leader. So our example is super important. Another really cool thing he said is that Exact obedience is different then perfection. We can't achieve perfection in this life but we can be exactly obedient and that is what the Lord expects of us. He also said that with all callings in the church you are not called because of what you are but because of who you will become. He also talked a lot about the difference between doing missionary things and doing missionary work. It was kinda funny he said the word "chillin" during the meeting and he was like, "That's probably not a phrase that general authorities should use. I’ll be sure to forget it next time I talk to President Monson." The meeting was just jam packed with the spirit.

Elder Brimhall (Served in Sierra Leone with Elder Lehr): I just have to say talking with him really made my day. I loved speaking Krio with him and just comparing our missions together. It was great.

That's basically been this week. Its been hectic and its been a party and its been spiritually uplifting.

I love you all

Good Week - 1/5/15

We got another surprise text from a member in Many with this picture of Elder Lehr and Elder Sabey

This week has been pretty good. It has literally rained for a full week straight. It was awesome it felt like Africa again. Except I think it rained a little harder there. But still awesome.

Investigators: Trent came to church again and loved it. He pretty much owns his baptism date now. He is so good. Dakota and Kelly didn't come to church because Kelly got sick. And Gary didn't because he was sick. A lot of people here are sick. But we're still working with them.

The Storm: So like I said it's been raining like crazy here. On Saturday we got a knock on our door at 4am and it's our neighbor Rick warning us that there was 60mph wind outside and a high chance of a tornado coming through Many. There was no tornado but it was still pretty legit. And I love the rain.

District goal: So as a district we set a goal to reach 80 lessons in one week this transfer and we did it! My goal with the district right now is to make them stretch to get more lessons so that they will want to find more people to teach. And then our next goal is to focus on getting those new people we are teaching to have member present lessons. So basically get a new teaching pool and then have members work with us.

Well not too much new has happened this week. But it was still really good. I love it here.
